Analysis of magazine advert. 1

I have used different resources for analysing magazine adverts such a different web pages and real magazines. The following images show the research i have done.

This NME magazine is the 24th November issue, focused on the band ALT-J who broke through into the industry this year, there a indie rock alternative band from Leeds. Their debut album An Awesome Wave was released in May 2012 in Europe and September 2012 in the United States, eventually winning the 2012 British Barclay card Mercury Prize. I feel that looking at this bands magazine ad will give us relevant ideas to what to include in our magazine as there similar genres.

As you can see from looking at the magazine advert its got an alternative feel about it, along with the outfits the band members are wearing this adds to the alternative genre theme. The font for the bands title is rather vintage looking, but grabs the readers attention with the red spots on the white. The black an white images in the right hand corner add the alternative feel again.

This edition of the NME magazine was a lot more colourful, i like the use of the newspaper cuttings for the different headings/articles. I like the way there all different font types etc. This magazine stand out, and maybe the newspaper cuttings are something we should use in are magazine.

This image is the band interview which featured in the November issue. I like the use of lighting on the stage set. The use of the stage is very effecting because the article is about the band and the title is access all areas and obviously the stage is where everything happens.

This image is showing exmaples of magazine adverts and other band tours which have been published in other music magazines. This is something which we would should include in our magazine, this would make it popular to our target audience as it offers them extra information about bands they may also like.

This image is an advertisement for a fashion company and at the bottom there is a Facebook and twitter link, I think it’s important to make sure we advertise our Facebook page on all of our products to increase the popularity of the page. The use of different companies is also important to include in a magazine.
